Flight to Individuation
Original Oil Painting On Canvas
£444.00
This painting traces a passage of becoming, inspired by Carl Jung’s concept of individuation - the lifelong process through which the self separates from the collective and moves toward inner wholeness. Figures rise from a shared ground and ascend through a cavern of amethyst, a stone long associated with clarity, protection, and spiritual awareness.
The amethyst forms an inner sanctuary: a psychological landscape where transformation is both held and tested. Below, clustered figures remain bound by sameness and familiarity, representing the comfort of collective identity. Above, ascent becomes solitary, luminous, and uncertain - the moment when the individual begins to recognise their own inner authority.
The narrowing, radiant path reflects the discipline and courage required to follow one’s inner call. In Jungian terms, this is the movement away from adaptation and toward authenticity - where growth demands separation, but leads to coherence.
The Flight to Individuation reflects the quiet resolve it takes to leave what is known in order to become whole, and the inner guidance that emerges when one commits to that ascent.
